ERDF in Practice

How do I apply?

The first step is easy. Contact the Regional Development Agency (RDA) for your region. The RDA can advise you on the application process: including advice on the potential of projects and their eligibility for ERDF funding. ERDF helps projects which offer substantial benefits that truly meet the needs of the region and wouldn’t take place without a grant. Ask your RDA for further information.

Although the structure and management arrangements vary in detail, each RDA will have a monitoring committee and a Secretariat to administer ERDF. The monitoring committees will be chaired by the Regional Director of the regional Government Office, and draw their membership from government departments and a wide range of regional partners. These usually include:-

Government Offices
Local Authorities
Higher and Further Education Institutions
Environmental Bodies
Voluntary and Private Sectors
Members of the Business Community

The committees guide the programme for their region and monitor and assess implementation.

The Secretariats in the RDAs will give administrative support to the monitoring committees. Secretariats will also assess all grant applications.
